Published: January 8th, 2009 @ 09:22 AMMuthirai has unique village
Muthirai has unique village Fulfilling her dead husband's wishes has become the mainstay of her life we are talking about Anees, wife of late Jeeva, the director who made grand films including 12B and Unnale Unnale. Fulfilling Jeeva's long-cherished dream of starting a film production company, Anees started Vision Jeeva Studios, whose first production will be Muthirai (also spelt as Muthirhai) starring Lakshmi Rai, Nithin Sathya, Daniel Balaji and Manjari Phadnis. It is an interesting commercial film about two conmen who are fast friends. Jeeva's films were totally different from the usual movies that Kollywood audiences were used to. Similarly, Anees plans to make Muthirai stand out from other films. So she has added quite a lot of unique attractions to it. First, she made Rakhi Sawant dance in an item song. Now, her crew has revealed that they built a small village for the film! Completely devoid of any modernity, this village will be something that no one has ever seen! Initially, the crew planned to find such a village in the Andaman Islands, which looked like some lost world, but later gave up the plan considering the hardships it would inflict on the actors. So the art director of Muthirai and his crew have built a village, which is unimaginably rustic and one of the film's highlights. Muthirai is directed by Jeeva's assistant Srinath and its music is composed by Yuvanshankar Raja. Check out Muthirai photo gallery.

Priyanka getting real good roles
Priyanka getting real good roles Priyanka, who made her debut in Veyyil, is making slow and steady progress in her career. In an industry where actresses land up with meaningless or unimportant roles even if they possess excellent acting skills, Priyanka has been extremely lucky that her acting skills got noticed and she has been getting heroine-centric films. The quest for heroine-centric roles took this talented actress to Mollywood, where she got a chance to act in Vilambam, the poignant tale of a gang-raped girl and her fight for justice. The film has not yet been released in India, but has been screened at several international film festivals where it was critically acclaimed by international film critics and pundits. Vilambam has made everyone in the industry take notice of Priyanka's acting skills and her ability to carry an entire film on her shoulders. The film has done a world of good to Priyanka's career. Though it has an impressive lineup of stars like Thilakan, Biju Menon and Suhasini, the focus is always on Priyanka and there are only two scenes in which she does not appear, which is something quite rare for a heroine! Following this, she has bagged meaty roles in Samasta Keralam PO Post opposite Jayaram and Bhoomi Malayalam. Not just Malayalam films, Priyanka has also secured a prominent role in Vanam Partha Seemaiyile (Tamil). The film, whose audio will be released soon, is considered as a catapult that will elevate Priyanka's status in Kollywood. Priyanka says she is not in a hurry at all and she would rather wait for a meaningful film role rather than to work in some run-of-the-mill movie. Her work in Vilambam has convinced everyone that she is an actress of immense talent and soon, Kollywood should give her a perfect platform to showcase her skills. We wish this brilliant actress the best of luck.
Padikkathavan: A complete entertainer
Padikkathavan: A complete entertainer Like his previous films Marudhamalai and Thalainagaram, Padikkathavan will also be a laugh riot, says director Suraaj. Maintaining his success formula of 'comedy in the first half and action in the second half', Padikkathavan is the tale of a reckless youth who falls in love with a beautiful girl. The director promises that Padikkathavan will be a complete Dhanush movie, rich in eye-popping stunts just like in Sullan. The film shows how a young man, who is bad in his academics and considered a good-for-nothing by his parents and neighbours, proves his worth. Sounds familiar? Suraaj added that Tamannaah and Vivek have very prominent roles to play in this film. Tamannaah's beauty and glamour, Vivek and Dhanush's s comedy, Mani Sharma's peppy music, and actions sequences are this film's highlights. This Sun Pictures' presentation is really a Pongal bonanza for Kollywood audiences. Check out Padikathavan photo gallery.

TN 07 AL 4777 to release by this month end GV Films presentation TN 07 AL 4777, a remake of Bollywood blockbuster Taxi No. 9211, is almost complete and the producers are absolutely happy with the way the film has come up. They are full of appreciation for director Lakshmikanthan, who was an assistant of late Jeeva. The film's producer Mahadevan Ganesh plans to release it by the end of this month. Starring Meenakshi, Simran, Pasupathy and Ajmal, TN 07 AL 4777 is one of the widely-discussed films of recent times. Speaking about how two strangers affect each other's lives, TN 07 AL 4777 brings out the eccentricities of life beautifully through an exciting screenplay. Pasupathy's (who reprises the role played by Nana Patekar in the original) acting and Vijay Anthony's music are the film's biggest attractions. But that is not all; there is one more attraction in this film: Singer Chinmayi has dubbed for Meenakshi in this film and her beautiful voice perfectly complements the actress's angelic beauty. There is a coincidence here: Jeeva, director Lakshmikanthan's guru, made Chinmayi dub for Tanisha in Unnale Unnale! Check out TN 07 AL 4777's photo gallery.
Happy Birthday Harris Jayaraj!
Happy Birthday Harris Jayaraj! Today is the birthday of music director Harris Jayaraj. Reason enough for music afficionados to revel! Click here to visit Harris birthday special page! His father S.M.Jayakumar's guitar was what lured Harris towards music. But as soon as he learnt the basics, he chose the keyboard as the instrument for his exploration. While mastering the instrument he also enrolled at the The Trinity Music College London and acquired knowledge in the musical theories. He began his musical journey as a keyboardist. For about 12 years, he played in several music directors' troupes and assisted them during composing sessions. After gaining considerable experience, he stepped into the ad world and started making jingles. Harris' music for Minnale topped the charts. Still it tops the listeners' all-time favourite list. Though his work for Minnale gave the debutant music director a mighty start in the industry, in real terms, Harris' first film was the Prashanth-starrer Majnu. Following Minnale Harris composed music for 12B and Koil and the films' music too became popular. Anniyan, his successful tryst with director Shankar further strengthened Harris' position in the industry. Along came Ghajini. By then the music director had made his mark in the industry. The directors and the public certainly looked forward to his listener-savvy numbers. Director Gautham Menon and Harris Jayaraj share a unique chemistry between them. Since their first combo production Minnale till the most recent Vaaranam Aayiram, the alliance has been remarkably successful. Between the recent crop of debutante musicians and the existing panel of experts, what makes Harris' compositions special? Well, certainly it is his style that has brought him a clear identity and recognition. Harris' natural impulses for melodies and his exclusive expertise for constructing them intelligently and tastefully has set him apart and above all his counterparts. He is also one among the talented music directors who can exploit a singer's skills well and showcase it appealingly. He is the one who turned the spotlight on singers like Bombay Jayashree ('Vaseegara' in Minnale), Mahathi ('Mudhal Mazhai' in Bheemaa), Prashanthini('Mundhinam Paarthene' in Vaaranam Aayiram). Harris has won the Tamilnadu state award and Filmfare award, twice for best composer. Many grand productions in his music are on the anvil. On his birthday today, let us wish him all the very best in his career! A very happy birthday Harris! Click here to listen to some of Harris' hits!
